There was much rejoicing in Sierra Madre, California today as CategoryWEB launched its revamped web directory.
CategoryWEB was founded in the darkest days of 2002, to provide an affiliate-based web services back-end for DMOZ results. However, upstream partner relationship problems caused this model to be unworkable, and we eventually decided something else had to be done.
Now, we've refocused, and with your help, will begin building a great new directory experience for our users.
CategoryWEB has undergone a major retooling. In addition to the obvious facelift, the back-end database has been rebuilt from scratch, and all site tools have been recast to create a better experience for our users, including faster-loading pages and more relevant content per search.
We further enhanced our Add Your Site process, including a new Express Review process, which will get your site reviewed and into the Directory in as little as two business days.
We recently purchased a brand-new, smokingly fast dual-Xeon server to help make sure that the site does not slow down under heavy traffic. This is a good thing, because we've begun spending to market CategoryWEB extensively, in order to increase our visibility, and our all-important Google PageRank.
So enjoy the new site, and email us mailto:service@categoryweb.com to let us know what you think.
